Lay me Down

"We sleep safely in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm."

"We sleep safely in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm."

If you’re reading this
My momma is sitting there
Looks like I only got a one way ticket over here
I sure wish I could give you one more kiss
War was just a game we played when we were kids
Well I’m laying down my gun
I’m hanging up my boots
I’m up here with God
And we’re both watching over you

So lay me down
In that open field out on the edge of town
And know my soul
Is where my momma always prayed where it would go.
If you’re reading this I’m already home.

If you’re reading this
Half way around the world
I won’t be there to see the birth of our little girl
I hope she looks like you
I hope she fights like me
Stand up for the innocent and the weak
I’m laying down my gun
Hanging up my boots
Tell dad I don’t regret that id follow in his shoes

So lay me down
In that open field out on the edge of town
And know my soul is where my momma always prayed where it would go
If you’re reading this, I’m already home

If you’re reading this, there is going to come a day
You move on and find someone else and that’s okay
Just remember this
I’m in a better place
Soldiers live in peace and angels sing amazing grace

So lay me down
In that open field out on the edge of town
And know my soul is where my momma prayed where that it would go
If you’re reading this

Alisha's Travels

Over the last month or so I've come to realize that I don't measue the year in seasons anymore. Instead, I measure it in where I'm travling to.

For instance:

Traveling all over New England with the Ensemble- Fall quarter

Florida for Sights and Sounds- Winter quarter,

Florida for JBTM, Argentina and several various weekend trips with the ensemble- Spring quarter,

Michigan- Summer break.

I should write a book...you know like "Gulliver's Travels",  Only I could call it "Alisha's travels." I don't think I've ever traveled as much at any point in my life. Not that I'm complaining...I've enjoyed it very much. I'm sorry to those of you that I've neglected. Things'll slow down soon and life will hopefully go back to normal. :)

"It's that time of year..."

Tomorrw at approximately 1:30 pm we'll ( 50 New York collegians) will be boarding a bus for the looong 26 hour ride down to Florida. I'm quite happy about it ( aside from missing everyone back at home and school) because tomorrow at some point it's supposedly going to be 35 below. I def. won't be complaining about the 75-80 degree weather. *sigh of contentment*  Pray for us, for the trip down and for us to minister effectively together. Also, pray for strength as we're just coming out of Snow Camp, heading right to Florida, and for second year students- heading out to our various countries for missions reality without a break. It'll be stretching to say the least.

Hold On

It will find you at the bottom of the bottle

It will find you  at the needles end.

It will find you when you beg and steal and borrow

It will follow you into a strangers bed.

It will find you when they serve you with the papers

It will find you when the locks are changed again.

It will find you when you've called in all your favors

It will find you at the bridges highest ledge.

So baby don't look down, it's a long way,

the sun 'll come around to a new day...

So hold on, love will find you

Hold on, He's right behind you now

Just turn around and love will find you....

It will find you when the Doctor's head is shaking

It will find you in a boardroom mostly dead

It will crawl into the foxhold where you're praying

It will curl up in your half way empty bed

So baby don't believe that it's over

Maybe you can't see 'round the corner...

But hold on, love will find you

Hold on, He's right behind you now

Just turn around and love will find you....

To hang between two thieves in the darkness

love must believe you're worth it...you're worth it

Ever been so burdened for someone that it's almost as if you physically can feel your heart hurt?

Pray for a 15 year old named Brittany. She needs it.
